West University Place Municipal Building

West University Place is an affluent enclave within Houston’s Loop 610, convenient to the Galleria, Greenway Plaza, the Texas Medical Center and downtown Houston destinations. The location was already home to West University’s city hall and fire department, but city planners wanted to expand the municipal complex to relocate key departments and consolidate resources.

Working with architect PGAL, M2L Associates delivered landscape architecture services to complete a renovation of the municipal complex to allow police and emergency operations staff to consolidate operations. While seamlessly integrating additional square footage, landscape designs maximized accessibility and safety while optimizing sustainability factors to minimize water and energy consumption. The designs complement the 1950’s architecture of the original buildings, so the renovation has the effect of a modern, expanded complex without losing the classic look and appeal of the West University enclave.
