Sugar Land Business Park is a 1,000-acre, mixed-use, commercial and industrial park near the intersection of U.S. Hwy 59 and U.S. Hwy 90-A in Fort Bend County, approximately 15 miles southwest of Houston’s central business districts. M2L Associates collaborated with the city of Sugar Land to design a signature gateway entrance for the prominent business park, home to numerous high-profile employers seeking attractive commercial space and distribution access.
The gateway concept M2L delivered drew on dynamic angles and layered geometry, combining contrasting colors and textures to create bold, distinctive forms. Creative lighting strategies rounded out the designs, from traditional surface illumination to LED channel lighting and integrated internal LEDs, seamlessly incorporated into the monuments themselves.
In addition to the gateway design, M2L provided landscape architecture services and wayfinding design. The project team used the city’s established color palette in a refreshed and contemporary gateway design, reinforcing municipal branding while establishing a distinct identity for the business park. The result is a highly recognizable, visually striking gateway that captures attention, strengthens community identity and elevates the corridor’s character.
