Simon Minchen Park

Simon Minchen Park is in the Hiram Clarke/Five Corners neighborhood of southwest Houston, just south of Meyerland in Fort Bend County. The 3.3 acres were largely undeveloped and required extensive improvements to make the park functional, including flood detention measures. The purchase and demolition of an adjacent, blighted gas station improved neighborhood safety while adding green space to the area. Further assisting the park redevelopment, the park was selected as a 50/50 Park Partner, a private-public campaign that seeks to drive improvements to underserved neighborhood parks and green spaces.

Working closely with the Houston Parks Board, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department and the Five Corners Management District, M2L designers brought deep parks and recreation project expertise to the table as the prime consultant on this comprehensive renovation. The site plan included an upgraded basketball court and improved athletic fields, a large playground with a dynamic, colorful play structure, new furniture, new site trails, a parking lot and pavilion, facility lighting, and landscaping throughout the property.

The new Simon Minchen Park was unveiled in early 2025 and heralded as a community hub for fitness and recreation, civic involvement, and community connection.

Simon Minchen Park now stands as a beacon of progress, providing a welcoming space for families, individuals and community organizations to gather, grow and thrive. The Five Corners Management District and its partners remain dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents, and this park’s completion is just one of many steps toward a brighter future ….
