Lawndale Dog Park

Lawndale Dog Park, located in Houston’s East End near Brays Bayou and the Bayou Greenways Trail, opened in November 2025 in an area that had long been underserved with such amenities. Planning began back in 2018 for the dog park, with various starts and stops but numerous, dedicated community and municipal stakeholders pushing the project forward. More recently the city of Houston overcame a challenging hurdle when the Houston Parks Board purchased the additional plot of land from Forest Park Lawndale, an adjacent funeral home and cemetery that agreed to continue maintaining the inside of the dog park.

Working as the prime landscape architecture with long-time partner and client Houston Parks and Recreation Department, M2L designed a safe and functional space that appeals to dogs of all varieties and sizes and their owners. Park amenities include a fenced area for off-leash play, water features and fountains, agility equipment and play obstacles — with benches, water fountains and bike racks for dog owners.
