Crossroad Church

CrossRoad Church is conveniently situated on Westgreen Boulevard just south of the Katy Freeway in Katy, Texas, a large western suburb approximately 25 miles from downtown Houston. First opening in the late 1990s when the area was significantly less populated, the congregation focused on reaching the expanding community with a modern, casual brand of worship. As Katy expanded, so did the church, resulting in the 2011 project to build the campus that exists today. In 2022, CrossPoint Community Church merged with Emaus Road Katy to become CrossRoad Church, a unified congregation that resulted from sharing worship space during the Covid pandemic. Today, the campus is home to a thriving congregation and popular early-childhood school that seek to connect with the community and be a place neighbors can find good news for every part of life.

Partnering with Merriman Holt Powell Architects on the landscape design for the CrossPoint Community Church development, M2L Associates worked to create a peaceful, cohesive, beautiful setting to draw surrounding neighbors to the campus. With a goal of maximizing flexible worship and learning space and extending the user experience outdoors, the site plan included connecting pathways and green spaces to optimize access and function, with an eye to future growth as the campus developed. Amenities included a water feature, covered walkways, shaded seating areas, a memorial garden, stonework and a playground, surrounded by low-maintenance, native plantings, grasses and flowering bushes that stand up well to the flat, prairie land and heavy soils that characterize Katy and the west Houston suburbs.
