Bellaire Fire Station is in a highly visible and heavily trafficked section of southwestern Harris County, nearby or adjacent to City of Bellaire police, parks and recreation, and library sites. Comprising 3.6 square miles of mostly affluent residences and mixed-use commercial lots, Bellaire straddles the Houston’s 610 Loop and is convenient to Houston’s downtown, Galleria and Greenway Plaza business districts as well as the renowned Texas Medical Center.
The new, enlarged fire station constructed on the same footprint, sought to remain true to historical architecture and integrate with other city assets. Key elements of the landscape design include simple but elegant features that complement the architectural design and integrate seamlessly into the streetscape. To maximize sustainability and contribute to LEED credits, pervious pavers and native plantings and materials minimize surface runoff and encourage water conservation.
