Aldridge Elementary School

Allen Aldridge Elementary School is a new-construction consolidation of two 1970’s-era Fort Bend ISD elementary schools, Briargate Elementary and Blue Ridge Elementary. Like many school districts attempting to balance declining enrollment trends with increasing operational costs, Fort Bend ISD decision makers chose to use a 2023 bond program to fund one larger, modern and updated campus to serve the community rather than renovate both aging schools. The new school, built on the Briargate Elementary site, was named to honor the late Aldridge, a Fort Bend ISD football standout who went on to play in the NFL and become a Super Bowl champion before returning to coach in the district for two decades.

Collaborating with longtime partner Kirksey Architecture, M2L Associates provided landscape architecture for the sprawling elementary campus, including an ADA-compliant, covered playground, play fields, multiple outdoor learning areas, and site landscaping, lighting and irrigation throughout the property. Numerous large oak trees were preserved and protected during the project, allowing them to anchor new designs and outdoor areas.

The new Allen Aldridge Elementary School is a two-story, technology-forward campus with modern, innovative learning environments both inside and out. Inside, nature-themed murals adorn the walls of each grade level, with varying pollination and character-building themes. Outside, the large learning deck shaded by the preserved and protected old oak trees will be a standout feature for the next generation of students.
