Mauer’s presentation will focus on using CPTED and landscape architecture best practices to create public spaces where people want to live, work and play.
USCA 2025 is the third annual conference of the U.S. CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) Association. CPTED is a multidisciplinary approach to creating safe and sustainable communities that unites urban, architectural and landscape designers, safety and security professionals, and the community around the common goal creating outdoor spaces that deter crime, improve safety and enhance quality of life.
Mauer added certified CPTED professional to his credentials earlier this year, achieving the highest level of certification through the International CPTED Association, or ICA. He is also a member of the USCA. NICP President and CEO Joelle Hushan invited Mauer to be a featured speaker at USCA 2025.
CPTED strategies are not new in law enforcement and risk management communities. The strategies are gaining traction among landscape architects and urban planners as city and project planners and project owners have begun specifying CPTED requirements for new projects.
