Please welcome our newest team member, landscape designer Leticia Garcia. Leti joins us most recently from Lauren Griffith Associates and Clark Condon before that. She graduated from Texas A&M University’s landscape architecture program with a minor in horticulture.
M2L Principal Lynn Mauer said, “Leti’s passion for our sustainability work and giving back to underserved communities aligns well with our values here at M2L. She’s a team player who does whatever it takes to make our work stand out!”
More about Leti in her own words:
How did you choose this field of study?
When I graduated from high school, I knew I wanted to be in the architecture field. I was first introduced to landscape architecture by my adviser at Texas A&M. I had never heard of the field before, so I sought out other landscape architecture students and asked them about the field and what drove them to it. I compared both fields and decided that I had a strong passion for nature, so I chose landscape architecture.
What types of projects most excite you?
The projects that most excite me are the ones that focus on making a difference in the surrounding community, especially in low-income neighborhoods. I come from a disadvantage community, so I know the importance of having safe spaces for people to enjoy.
I love that M2L is known for high-profile projects in some of the cities most marginalized neighborhoods. From our work in and around the Third Ward to building trails and connectors around city parks to a new youth center deep in south Texas in San Juan — these are the projects that resonate with me.
What do you like to do outside of the office?
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family. Apart from being a boy mom to a toddler and preschooler, I enjoy painting and baking. And here’s a fun fact: My husband and I and both our sons recently achieved our dual nationality/dual citizenship in Mexico. We feel so proud to share our roots with our children.
