M2L Associates is proud to expand our team with the addition of Jianjie Ma. Jianjie earned her bachelor of engineering degree in environmental design from Guilin University of Technology in Guilin, Guangxi, China before moving to the United States to pursue her master’s degree in landscape architecture at the University of Arizona. Upon graduation she spent time at Garden Design Inc. near Dallas as a landscape designer before landing at M2L.
Jianjie’s desire to succeed and broad cultural experience make her a strong addition to our team. “Jianjie has unique interests and a love of eastern gardens that brings a fresh perspective to our designs,” said M2L Principal Michael Mauer. “She’s a quick study who jumps in to make any project succeed.”
More about Jianjie in her own words:
How did your passion for landscaping and garden design begin?
Growing up in China, my first interest in traditional Chinese gardens led me to choose landscape architecture as my major at university. Coming to a different country helped me to experience different cultures and gain more knowledge about design from another perspective. Landscape architecture is a broad field that covers many aspects, and I enjoy the different capabilities I’m able to develop. I hope to provide different perspectives and become a more successful landscape practitioner through my work her at M2L.
How do you relax in your down time?
While I was pursuing my postgrad work, I didn’t have much free time for anything but studying. Now that I have more time, I enjoy hand crafting, video games and photography. I also like to get outside for hiking and exploring. I have so much to see around my new city!
