The Urban Land Institute (ULI) in Houston selected Emancipation Park as the winner of the 2019 Development of Distinction Award in the Open Space Category. The lead architect for the project was North Carolina-based Perkins & Will with M2L Associates serving as the landscape architect and local design team leader.
Each year the UIL Houston Development of Distinction Awards honor developments and green spaces in Houston that uphold the ULI mission of shaping the future of the built environment for transformative impact. Winning projects showcase compelling spaces that exemplify best practices in design, construction, economic viability, healthy places, marketing and management, according to the organization.
M2L Principal Michael Mauer said the firm was honored by the recognition. “Everyone at M2L is beyond proud of the new Emancipation Park and the impact it will have for generations to come,” he said. Thank you to ULI–Houston and everyone involved!”
